Hope

Hope -  A short word with such a big impact.  A lack of it can lead to a dismal outlook on life while just a little bit can allow us to feel optimistic in the most dire of circumstances.  I know that little word has impacted my life in a big way.  It continues to do so as I hope for a cure for ALS.

I met with my doctor, Dr. Goslin, this week.  She gave me the facts and yet filled me with hope.  I wanted to know how much further my health will decline before I see the end.  She let me know that I probably will not have to deal with anything other than what I am already dealing with.  I guess that gave me some hope that things won’t get much worse.  It seems gruesome but when you are in my position, I will take the win any way I can get it!

Hope is a gift that you can and should freely give.  Sometimes it is easy to steal people’s joy by sharing your attitude of hopelessness (oftentimes people insist that they are merely sharing the facts). I want to encourage you to keep those hopeless thoughts and facts to yourself and be nothing but encouraging.

I am not telling you to say, “everything will be alright”, because you have no way of knowing that to be the case.  Instead, I want you to share any reasons for hope that you can muster.  For example, “I am here for you” can go a long way toward offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of a terrible situation.  Sometimes simply knowing that someone is willing to make the journey alongside us offers hope.

I want to be a beacon of hope to anyone suffering.  Know that no matter what your situation, you should hang in there.

You never know how your perseverance is impacting someone else.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Your posts are so inspiring! I'm going through some major issues and am trying to keep the faith that everything will be okay. Your sharing your positive attitude helps me keep it! Everything is possible with God! There is always a light at the end of the tunnel

The video is Akhil's journey with ALS.  Painful to see but the faith his family shows is uplifting.

God continues to show his love for us through his people.  Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us, prayed for us, visited Akhil, brought us a meal and served us however God led you to serve.  Continue to follow those urgings from God in serving those who are struggling.
