Bad Report?

Well folks, I went to the ALS Clinic.  I met with many doctors.  The results were not we expected.  As a matter of fact, my breathing was around 40%. YIKES!

So, we got a bad report.  What now?  According to my doctors, statistically speaking, I have about 6 months left.  As I said, "YIKES!"

Now, I have a choice: believe the bad report, or believe God for healing? Hmm.... What to do?
For the answer, let's look at a similar story in the Bible...

Picture
Numbers 13:31-33 New International Version (NIV)

But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” 32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

See? They faced a similar situation.  God had promised them something, but reality was staring them in the face.  Giants!  "YIKES!"
What happened?
Back to the Bible...

Picture
Numbers 14 New International Version (NIV)

1 That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! 3 Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” 4 And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

5 Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole Israelite assembly gathered there. 6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes 7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

They had a choice.  Fear the giants or believe God.  Most feared the giants.  This did not please God.  So, we only have one choice!  NOT fear.

Back to me, what do I do?  Fear the giant, ALS, or trust God?
Easy!  Trust God that he will give me a full life (healing) and destroy the enemy.

Where do I get this confidence?

John 10:10 New International Version (NIV)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Akhil, I'm still believing! I mean this sincerely! God and everyone who knows you realizes what a bland world this would be without you. You are a wonderful husband, father, Christian, friend, evangelist, and all around bright light in this world!!! I will just continue praying, requesting, and believing for complete healing Akhil. The video is Akhil's journey with ALS.  Painful to see but the faith his family shows is uplifting.

God continues to show his love for us through his people.  Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us, prayed for us, visited Akhil, brought us a meal and served us however God led you to serve.  Continue to follow those urgings from God in serving those who are struggling.
